You must be Helen. I’m John – Buzzfeedy tips for the Euro Capital of Culture meeting

Cuuuute!

Cuuuute!

A friend took me to one side the other day in the pub to ask me why I didn’t do stories using lists and numbers and pictures.

“It’s the future of news,” she said. “You know, like Buzzfeed? When they have 10 ways cute little kittens get dressed up as vegetables?”

Fair enough.

So tomorrow there’s a much anticipated first public meeting at the Town Hall, at which we the citizens of Leeds will start to decide whether we fancy putting in a bid to become …

  1. Simon Cooke says:

I see the private sector is well engaged there!

  2. Yes, none of our big employers, developers going to be there, although Nigel Foster of Arup/LeedsandPartners/ChamberofCommerceEtcEtc is a very late sign-up.

The others will be along to … erm … join the “conversation” in a bit no doubt, as will Leeds and Partners, whose non-attendance is the most remarkable (but understandable).

In the meantime there are reps going from the new breed of “civic” business peeps like aql, the Yorkshire Development Group and Leeds Sustainable Development Group.

  3. For “Leeds Culture” read “unhindered proliferation of shopping arcades and supermarkets”.
