Kids of today have no shame, Halifax mother tells Court

[Yorkshire Evening Post, 11th October, 1956]

“Those gangs should be broken up,” said Mrs Knapton of Lower Cross, Halifax when asked at the Halifax Borough Court today if she wished to say anything on behalf of her 16-year-old son who was charged with stealing…

“When we chastise them they turn around and give us a lot of cheek,” she declared. “There is nothing we can do about them. I don’t know what the children of today are coming to. They have no shame.”
