Councillors to visit historic Middleton Arms pub before deciding on Aldi demolition plan

A decision on whether to allow Aldi to demolish the historic Middleton Arms pub and replace it with a supermarket has been deferred by councillors.

Leeds Council planning officers had recommended that the Aldi plan be rejected, but councillors on the Plans Panel (East) said they wanted time to visit the site for themselves before making a final decision.

The earliest a decision on the future of the pub could now be made is 3rd November.
