Field for Marketing Leeds chief exec narrowed down to two – eight months after job advert

Eight months after the job was first advertised, the field of candidates to run Leeds Council’s marketing, tourism and inward investment operation has been narrowed down to two.

Online news service the business desk says that according to people in the know the latest round of interviews for the post of chief executive of the revamped and expanded Marketing Leeds organisation was held last week and it’s now down to ASDA chief exec Andy Clarke – recently appointed as Marketing Leeds chairman – to assess the two “outstanding candidates”.

“Indications are that the position will be filled before the festive season. Let’s hope that’s the case so we can all move on,” says the report.

The job was first advertised in the national press in February this year. When it got to October and no replacement had been found for outgoing chief exec Deborah Green, a stand-in was parachuted in to hold the fort. She’s still there.
