Leeds United in line for £500k grant from council in 2014-15

Leeds_United_LogoAre The Mighty Whites about to get a half a million quid grant from Leeds City Council?

It looks like it from the detail of the council’s capital spending plans for “city centre infrastructure” next year.

Can’t find any mention elsewhere in the budget documents that are going to be presented to the council’s leaders for endorsement on Friday, but, as you can see below, it’s a one-off for the 2014-15 financial year.

After approval by the leaders on the executive board, the budget plans go to a meeting of the full council (on 26th February).

All will be revealed.

In the meantime, anyone any idea what the grant is for?

(cheers to an eagle-eyed reader for bringing it to my attention)

  1. Tweeted about this the other day and the best explanation anyone came up with was the Park & Ride scheme they have planned for Elland Road.

  2. yep. especially as it’s described as a grant. all the other budget lines for the park and ride seem to come under Transport and are marked “park and ride”.

  3. Whilst we encourage anything that is going to help the whites surely this has to raise a few eyebrows? The rugby games make sense
